This remarkable map by father and son cartographers, Nicolas and Guillaume Sanson, is linked to the ancient regions of Colchis, Iberia, and Caucasian Albania.
It contains valuable information about the ancient Georgian states of Colchis and Iberia, depicting fortress cities as well as river and mountain networks. In total, the map highlights over one hundred geographical references related to these regions. Of particular note, Kutaisi is mentioned under three different names: Coeteum, Cotyoeum, and Cotatis.
The map was reprinted multiple times in France, with this version being printed in 1665.
