Georgia

This is the 1690 Paris edition of the renowned GEORGIA map by French royal cartographer Pierre du Val. The map was originally printed in 1670 in Paris under the title GEORGIE.

In the legend of this Du Val map, only one designation, GEORGIA, is used, representing almost the entire region, including Georgia, from the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea.

Cities and towns such as Lonati (Batumi), Fazo (Fazisi), Sauastopoli (Sukhumi), Cotatis (Kutaisi), Scander (Skanda), Cori (Gori), Tiflis (Tbilisi), and others are marked on the map.

Among the royal principalities of Georgia, the map marks Guriel (Guria), Basaciuk (Imereti), Mingrelie (Samegrelo), Gurgistan (here referring to Kartli), and Lachet (Kakheti).
